Which employees are covered under ESIC (Employees' State Insurance Corporation)?
ESIC applies to employees earning wages up to ₹21,000 per month (₹25,000 for persons with disability) in establishments with 10 or more employees in notified areas. Covered employees are entitled to medical, maternity, sickness, disablement, and dependent benefits under the ESI Act 1948.
What are the current ESIC contribution rates for employers and employees?
As of the current rate revision, the employer contributes 3.25% of the employee’s gross wages and the employee contributes 0.75%. Employees earning up to ₹176 per day are exempt from the employee contribution. Both contributions are remitted together on or before the 15th of the following month.
